Opening and closing, Palestine and the memory of the Nakba persist in nature. In The Reconnaissance, an imaginary conversation between Pasolini and Robert Smithson: the quest for a film. Surface Rites features a location in Ontario, populated by symbols of a Slovak village, prize-winning cows, and teenage zombies wandering where First Nations peoples once lived. In A River and a Queen, we hear stories and myths of a territory scarred by destruction from water and fire. In the end, while searching for the ruins of a village razed in 1948, Mograbi and his Arabic teacher find wild asparagus.
