Aqui, a confeitaria Manhattan da Corunha revela-se um centro no qual Seles vai construindo uma das mais comoventes peças da sua filmografia. Uma cineasta solitária filma, atenta, as mulheres desta confeitaria num lugar estrangeiro e imagina formas de pertença. Um filme de uma intimidade que expande, silenciosamente, a nossa relação afectiva com um lugar longínquo.   When una mujer ama too many a una confitería. In Seles’s world, the poetic projection and cinematic craftsmanship take shape through a religious (to use one of her own terms) devotion to reality. In this light, patisseries are central spaces. Here, the Manhattan bakery in A Coruña becomes a pivotal location around which Seles constructs one of the most moving works in her filmography. A solitary filmmaker attentively films the women of this bakery in a foreign land and imagines ways of belonging. A film of such intimacy that it silently deepens our emotional connection with a distant place.
